Dr. Joy Mordica is the Chief Executive Officer of the Equity Research Group where she directs all activities conducted by the organization. Throughout her career, Dr. Mordica has effectively provided technical assistance on the use of effective, research-based strategies to address the academic needs underserved student populations.
Dr. Mordica completed her undergraduate degree in education at Vanderbilt University and holds a Master of Science in Educational Research from Georgia State University. Her doctoral degree in Educational Policy Studies with a concentration in Research, Measurement, and Statistics, also from Georgia State University. Dr. Mordica has worked with the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) where she was involved in identifying national trends in curriculum, course taking and grade point averages of high school graduates. As she worked in this capacity seemingly persistent achievement gaps caught her attention and she began to explore how research could be used to alleviate the achievement gaps.
Dr. Mordica’s experience in education policy, data analytics, research methodology, and program evaluation provides a wealth of knowledge that she uses to advance issues of equity across multiple facets of society. Dr. Mordica has also been effective in conducting training events for schools and districts on critical issues of equity.
